How to get started writing a book. The hardest part in writing a book is what to write. The main step is what are you going to write about. Well take your idea and write it out in three sentences according to action and character. Isolating your main character should present no problems but defining the action may be more difficult. Do not be specific avoid detail. Be general as possible. It may take you three or four pages of writing to define the action and figure out what kind of story you're telling. Now reduce the idea to a few paragraphs. Then reduce this to a few sentences. Say it aloud. Read it out loud. Polish it some more. Do it until you are perfectly clear about your story and can express it clearly and concisely in three or four sentences.
Then you have to just structure it (put it all together). When you sit down to write a book you must approach it as a whole. The story is composed of parts-characters, plot, action, incidents and events and you as a writer must fashion these into a whole, a definite shape and form, complete with beginning, middle and end.
