Complaining about the "liberal media". Sick of talk-radio and the hate speech it spits out?
Politipop.com is a political news site without editors. Politipop uses non-hierarchical editorial control similar to Digg.com. With Politipop, users submit stories for review, but rather than allowing an editor to decide which stories go on the homepage, the users do.
Politipop also allows users to comment on articles submitted and nothing gets a discussion going like political opinions.
How does Politipop work? Once a story is submitted by a user it is posted in the political story queue. This is a temporary holding place where stories wait to be promoted to the homepage. To help promote stories to the homepage, users visit the story holding area and vote on stories that interest them. Once a story has received enough votes, the story is moved to the Politipop front page. Stories that don't receive enough votes are eventually dropped from the site.
Politipop's success is based on the broad political views of the users. Politipop.com is actual a-political. Members of oppposing political parties may find themselves on the same side of an issue or they may vigorously defend their view point.
So, is Politipop political news anarchy or is it democracy in action? You decide.
