Sal****er Fishing Gear: Starting Out

When you are sal****er fishing youre going after a different type of fish than in a lake or creek. The fish are different so your sal****er fishing gear is different than that used for fishing in a fresh water lake.

When you go sal****er fishing you need not only skill but the knowledge and use of the proper equipment. If you're a freshwater fisherman , though the skills are similar the equipment differences mean you'll need some adjustment time to learn the in's and out's of the sal****er fishing gear.

Initially, get a good sal****er fishing rod. You want one from the mid-level, not top quality or the base level. The cost is somewhere between $100-200+. The base level rod is one you'll regret quickly. They don't perform, may cause you to get bad habits and you'll have a difficult time reselling it when you want a better rod.

Next on your list is a good sal****er fishing reel. Salt water is highly corrosive eating at the metal in metal reels. Invest the money in reel with is sal****er corrosion resistant. My choice is graphite and aluminum.

Baitcasting and spinning are the main categories of sal****er fishing reels. Baitcasting reels are used for larger heavier fish, but requires a higher skill level. Spinning reels have a stationary spool making them easier to use. Choose the line to fit your reel and the type of fishing you intend to do. If youre just getting started with sal****er fishing then consider a combo, as the manufacturer attaches the right reel to the right rod.

Now I know this is going to cause some debate, but its a personal decision whether to construct your own fly or buy one. Whatever you choose make it for the right fish and high quality. Remember fish arent stupid. Low quality fly isnt going to attract the fish you want.

If youre an experienced freshwater angler then youll find the change to sal****er fishing smooth if you choose the right sal****er fishing gear. With the proper gear youll enjoy your fishing as you expand your skills to the sal****er. Sal****er fishing gear properly cared for will provide many years of enjoyable fishing.
