Sending packages or a separate box to the philippines can get pretty hard if you don't know how to properly arrange that box for delivery. Usually, OFWs or overseas Filipino workers send boxes to their families back home, usually containing numerous stuff such as toys, toiletries, canned goods, perfumes, and many other stuff. This kind of package is commonly known to Filipinos as Balikbayan boxes. Delivering the box as well as what's inside it isn't the only thing that senders should be thinking about. There is also the safety of the box and the contents as well as several rules that senders should know before sending a box to the Philippines.

Sending a Box back home

When it comes to sending a box or a separate box to the philippines, its important to note that courier companies, although they ensure the safety of their boxes, aren't immune to accidents. Another sending in a box takes more time and effort than it looks to be. So before sending in a box or balikbayan box to the Philippines, here are some things that you should consider.

The total weight of your box

Usually, courier services requires a minimum weight of the package. If the box exceeds the weight limit, its either you pay the penalty or take off several stuff from the box. So it's important to know the minimum weight requirement of a package before actually carrying that box over to the office.

By air or by sea

Most courier companies provide both of these method, airfreight and seafreight. So what are the difference between these two? The major difference is with its cost and the time before the box gets to its destination. Airfreight is commonly faster, usually taking 1-2 weeks, depending on where the package came from. Although faster, delivering a box or a separate box to the philippines is usually much more expensive than seafreight. Delivering by sea, however, takes more time than those of by air, usually taking 3 weeks to 1 month (again, depending on which country the package is coming from).

A sturdy box

Although any other kinds of box can be used, such as those used for television sets, a box made for use as balikbayan boxes is much more appropriate. Airports usually sells different sets of boxes that any Filipinos could use. LBC, a courier company in the Philippines, also provides Filipinos sturdy boxes for use in this situation.
