Games to play at a Wedding Shower

Your best friend is getting married and you've planned a wonderful wedding shower for her. But now you're wondering what your guests will be doing for the two and a half hours they'll be at the shower? What kind of games can you have the guests play, after food and refreshments are served and before the gifts are opened.

Wedding showers are great for games. And there are many games to choose from for shower planners. Remember to have little prizes for the winners of your games.

Balloon Race: This is a fun game almost anyone can play. Fill several balloons with rice, blow the balloons up until they are very full, and tie them off. Divide the guests into two teams and have them form two lines. Give each guest two forks and have the guests pass the balloon from the first person in the line down to the end, using only the forks to grab and pass the balloon. Each person must be careful because too much pressure with the forks can pop the balloons. If a balloon pops, that team must start at the beginning with a new balloon. The team who moves their balloon to the end of the line first wins.

Who's that Cover Girl: before the party, cut out some beauty ads from magazines, but cut out the product references. Glue them onto construction paper and write the product name on the back in pencil. During the party, give each of the guests a piece of paper and pencil. Then hold up each card and have them write their answers on the paper. The person who gets the most answers correct is the winner.

Helpful Hints: On the party invitation, ask your guests to bring a helpful hint for the bride. This can be any kind of hint, from household ones to marital ones. And they can be funny or serious. As each gift is opened, ask the guest who brought the gift to read their hint out loud. Have a jar to collect the hints in so the bride can read them again later.

Marriage Tips: get pieces of paper, one for each guest. Fold the sheets of paper in half and on the top half write a typical "what if" marriage problem. These can be anything from burning breakfast to wrecking the car. Give one piece of paper to each guest and have the guest complete the question. Example is "what if my husband throws away my favorite hair clip?" the guest can give an answer, serious or funny in response. Give prizes for the funniest and most helpful answer.

Everyone loves playing games and games make a party more fun. So good luck and remember to have fun.
