Apple ships Boot Camp 1.1

Apple has released a second beta version of its Boot Camp software, Boot Camp 1.1.
The software allows users of Intel Macs to install a bootable version of Windows XP on their Mac. Unlike the independently produced Parallels software, Boot Camp does not allow the two operating systems to run side by side.
Boot Camp 1.1 contains multiple updates and is "intended for all new and previous Boot Camp beta users", the company said.
New features include support for the latest Intel-based Macs and easier partitioning using presets for popular sizes.
The software also now permits users to install Windows XP on any internal disk, support for iSight cameras and the built-in microphone, improved Apple keyboard support (Delete, PrintScreen, NumLock and ScrollLock keys all now function). The software has also mapped a right-click function when a user presses the right-hand Apple key on Apple keyboards.
The 202MB download requires Mac OS X 10.4.6 Tiger or later.
Apple advises users who already have a previous version of the software installed that they will not need to partition their drive again to install the new software (unless they want to do so). They also won't need to reinstall their Mac and Windows software or documents.
However, Apple warns: "It's very important to update the Boot Camp Assistant software, create a new Macintosh Drivers for Windows CD and install the updated software it contains on Windows XP. Complete instructions are provided in the Installation and Setup Guide included with the Boot Camp 1.1 beta software."
