I have a friend who did not know how to clean her windows and always whinged about it.
Yesterday, she moaned to me again that she had tried everything she could, trying to wash her windows. She explained to me how she went about cleaning them, but yet whinging to me that her windows still look dirty. When she continued complaining that she always waited for a sunny day to see the dirt properly in order for her to clean them, I had to shout "STOP!STOP! STOP!"
I decided to teach her how to clean the windows so that she could have beautiful windows every time.
Read on if you have not already mastered the art of window cleaning.
So, here is the secret of how you wash your window... I am going to give it to you a step-by-step guide to do it perfectly.
Before you start!
1. NEVER EVER try to wash the windows in direct sunlight!
2. Use an old washing up sponge, so if needed you can still use it for persistent spots without worrying scratching the glass.
3. Always have two clean linen cloths, and always use them in the same order.
4. Have two different bowls of hot water and a few tablespoon of vinegar.
5. If you prefer to use window cleaner, you still need one bowl of hot water and a few tablespoon of vinegar in it, for the first wash.
Start!
1. Dip your sponge in the first bowl of water and squeeze most of the water out of the sponge, but not too hard. Then clean the window from the top to the bottom and try not to clean a large portion of the window at one go as you don't want the the window to dry up. Clean the sponge in water bawl no.1.
2. Then use the same sponge in bowl no. 2 and squeeze water out and wipe the window thoroughly before it dries up.
3. If you prefer to use the window cleaner, squeeze the sponge hard so the sponge is only damp before spraying either on the windows or the sponge. Start cleaning from top to bottom for a small area at a time as you you do not want the window to go dry. When it dries, it is harder to get an excellent result.
4. Always wash the windows twice, so you don't just move the dirt around.
5. Now take the first cloth and dry most of the water.
6. Use the second cloth to dry the window in large moves. Be careful not to smudge the dirty part of the window.
7. Remember all the corners; now move on to the next part of the window.
8. I normally do the window on the outside first, and then I change the water to do the window on the inside.
9. But the end result is fantastic and knowing that the windows are clean on the inside and outside makes the whole house look fresh.
