Ever heard of Tussocks, Sudds, Floatons or Floating Islands? These islands can be just a few square feet in size or a several hundred acres in size. This natural occurrence is seen all around the globe. They are more usually found in lakes and fenland.
Cattails, bulrushes, sedges and reeds, which have extended from a wetland shore, are the most common ingredients of tussocks. Overhanging flora will build up around the shoreline. This also happens because the water level might be low in the root area so the tip of the plants tries to reach the water by hanging and soon afterward, breaking. In general the area directly beneath the tussock is full of living marine organisms. Eventually harsh weather or storms cause the overhanging section to separate from the shoreline. The bulk begins to transmigrate and finally clings onto another landform. Wind helps to move the mass along, but anything to harsh can destroy the mountain. Large trees up to 50 feet tall and 8-12 inches in diameter have been seen growing on Tussocks.

Most individuals, nowadays, dont cherish the influx of floating islands. In addition to carrying itself, the islands often act as a style of transportation for animals. It is not uncommon to see amphibians or reptilians along for a ride. Personally the arrival of a gator at my front door would not be a welcomed animal. Drifting islands dont just transport hazardous creatures; they can also bring helpful floras and herbs your way.
