Digital Menu Boards

There is no denying it -- we live in a digital world. The latest innovation in our digital age is the use of digital menu boards in our favorite restaurants. Digital menu boards offer a restaurant a pioneering, cutting edge look as well as unsurpassed flexibility and customization. Digital menu boards have many benefits over the static alternative.

A digital menu board has two basic parts. It is really a high definition flat LCD screen that can range in size from 20 inches up to hundreds in the case of custom designs as used in some of the newer sports stadiums. For small establishments, one screen may suffice, but a multi-screen approach is most often necessary to display the restaurants entire menu. The screens are usually set on the wall behind an order taker or kitchen but in some cases can sit right up on the front of the counter.

The second part of the digital menu board is what runs it. In most cases this would be a media player, but some digital menu board companies may offer the LCD screen with the player embedded. Digital signage software is used to control the screens content.

In the case of chain restaurants, an internet connection can be used to attach screens at locations all over the region or country to one central database that controls what is displayed at every location simultaneously. This really comes in handy for price changes or updates to daily/weekly specials. The digital menu boards eliminate the need to coordinate signage changes with each individual store manager, leaving room for error. Prices and specials can be changed instantaneously from one central location.

The flexibility and timing perfection of a digital menu board will ensure a business is advertising itself most efficiently by targeting the majority customers with dishes that meet the time of day and day of week. An effective use and common set-up of the digital menu board uses one or more screens for standard menu items, another for cross selling and promotional items and yet another for full screen advertisements displaying new products or products highly suggestible to the time in which they are shown.

The leading provider of digital menu boards is Rise Display. This innovative company has been in the digital signage business since 1992 and worked with some of the leading corporations today including banks, universities, and hospitals. LCD displays range from 32" to 57" and their experience has made them leaders in digital menu boards as well.

It is predicted that before long, everyone will be going with Digital Menu boards.
